Who looks up to you?

In this day and age there is a near endless number of celebrities. Between movies, music, professional wrestling and so many other forms of entertainment, there are idols literally everywhere.  In fact there are more celebrities living in America today than there were people in America in the 1800's. As a whole, society rewards people for being beautiful on the outside and for light meaningless entertainment. Now, when I say light I don't mean funny, I mean without substance.

I actually think that it is very likely that if Jesus came back to this earth and wasn't one of the beautiful people he would simply be ignored until he started doing "tricks" that wowed people's minds the same way special effects do in movies.

Why is it that the Kardashians are wealthy? From what I can tell it is simply because they are attractive people. There doesn't seem to be any real natural talent among them.  Don't get me wrong. I am not in any way saying that beauty should not be admired and sought after. Just as I am not saying that most movies and music are not enjoyable, just because they are shallow. I am simply saying that I think truly enlightened folks should be the top of the charts.

People like Tony Robbins, Deepak Chopra, Don Miguel Ruiz, Les Brown and Bob Proctor, they should be the real superstars in our world. Who? Just a short list of people today that are actively making the world a better place for all of us, now and in the future. You may not know who those people are. How about Gandhi,Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Nelson Mandela, John Adams, Abraham Lincoln and Thomas Jefferson? Another short list, this time of dead people, that made the world a better place.

Line up any random ten people on any street corner in America and ask them about Britney Spears, Justin Bieber, The Rock, Mick Jagger, and Dwayne Wade. I would bet big money that nine out of every ten know more about those five people than they do about anybody and everybody in the previous paragraph.

Everybody wants to be attractive. Everybody wants to be able to do flashy showy things that other people like and are willing to pay top dollar to see. The fact is not everybody can be eye candy or successful movie stars, rockers and wrestlers or good at pro sports. But everyone can make some kind of deep meaningful change in this world. Every person in this world can challenge the things that they see that are unfair and resolve not to rest until real results are reached. What stops us? Mostly it's laziness and fear of reprisal or what others might think of us. It is easier to blame others for what is wrong with the world.  That is only gonna work for so long. What are you going to do when you are surrounded by others who are all standing up for what they believe in and you are just sitting there? We all have a well of nearly limitless power within ourselves. Why not start using it?
