A little over a week ago we went and saw the movie Frozen. It's based on a story by Hans Christian Anderson. And by based on I mean if you have read the book there's a couple of characters that you might recognize in the movie. It's actually so different as to be ridiculous. The book is much more of an acid trip and the movie actually, kinda, makes sense, as long as you believe in both magick and the power of true love.
The point here is that even though the movie experience was over a week ago, the song Let it Go, is still rolling around in my head. I can't seem to get rid of it. But I don't really mind since the singer has a strong, powerful, beautiful voice and the song is very empowering.
We don't really get to directly pick what our subconscious mind focuses on. However, if Let it Go had a negative message or was filled with violent imagery then I would put in some serious effort to remove it from my mind.
Why? One because I like to think about happy positive things and two because what you focus on you tend to bring about in your life. You might say it's just a song, how much damage can it do? Well, it has been proven through multiple scientific studies that your mind can not tell the difference between an action you have taken and something that you have vividly imagined. And what is a song but something that you vividly imagine??
Or how about TV? Do you realize just how much violence, sadness and overall negativity are on television today? Most people relate somewhat to the TV that they watch. We tend to put ourselves into the shoes of at least one of the characters on whatever show it is. And then we react subconsciously as if the events were happening to us. Consciously we know it's not real, but we put ourselves through the experience anyways.
We program ourselves for the types of things that we want in our lives. The average person comes home and immediately either turns on some music or the television just to have something going on in the background while they go about their evening routine. Our conscious mind pays no attention to what is going on in the background, but our subconscious does. And since our subconscious mind makes all the choices for things like our self esteem and our outlook on the world shouldn't we want to fill it up with positive things rather than negative?
We can't pick what our subconscious mind focuses on but we can give it more good targets than bad. What kinds of things are there to watch out for? Violent imagery on TV, country music or gangster rap and believe it or not the news. It hardly ever has anything good to say. It's all about who is getting shot up or who is stealing from who, generally painting a bleak picture of life in this world.
Anything that focuses on the horrors of war, poverty, sickness, crime, greed, pain or loss should be things that we avoid feeding our subconscious mind in general, but especially just before bed or right after we wake up, as this is when our minds are most impressionable.
I am not saying don't listen to music or watch TV. But listen to and watch things that are uplifting and inspiring. There is nothing wrong with adversity. It is required for growth. However make what you focus on triumph over adversity rather than failure. That way you program your mind for success.

Do you really know the people you love?
Most of us are constantly surrounded day in and day out by people. The world is full of them. Some we like, some we love, others we despise. The ones we don't like we often tend to know quite a bit about. We frequently make ourselves consciously aware of their likes and dislikes so that we can be avoid being like them.
One would think that we would naturally seek to find out what things those we love like and dislike. But often that is not the case. Oh, it might be, early on in the relationship, when we are struggling to get them to like us, but somewhere along the way that curiosity tends to fade and die out altogether. We find out what we need to know to get them solidly in our lives and then once we do, we move on to other pursuits.
We are constantly hit with all this data, especially from TV and news media about ourselves, how and what to do to take care of ourselves and make us happy. Advertisements focus on our enjoyment of life and how their products will make us feel and look. But, unless it's the holidays, they don't spend much time focused on how what they have to offer will make our families and friends happy.
In all fairness we do have to live with ourselves forever. There is no escaping oneself. But a large part of truly enjoying ones life comes from the happiness we can bring to others. It is joy shared that is joy multiplied.
It has been said that the most powerfully positive magickal word for a person to hear, is their own name. Now, this is just a guess, but I think you probably know the names of the five closest people in your life. But how often do you use it?
And what about other things that they like and care about?
Make a list of the five people that you are the closest to in your life. Attempt to answer these questions for each of them. No cheating. Do this simply from what you already know about those you care about and love.
What is their favorite color?
When is their birthday?
What is their favorite food? What is their least favorite?
Do they have a favorite drink?
What are their hobbies? What do they do to unwind?
What is one place they have never been but would like to visit?
What are their goals for the future?
What is the average airspeed velocity of an unladen swallow?(sorry. j/k couldn't help it)
Knowing yourself as intimately as you do, these should be easy questions to answer about you, but can you answer them as your friends and family would?
Don't worry, not knowing doesn't make you a terrible person. It just gives you the opportunity to learn more about your loved ones. I am not saying that you should spend all day everyday focusing on other people. Having you time is important as well. But don't you think you should spend at least some time showing those that you care about that what they want really matters to you? That they are just as important to you as you are to them?

Hell or Paradise?
In order to avoid a seeming eternity of never ending pain and suffering, could you, would you, do and say nice things to, about, and for everyone else around you? I hope so because that's what it takes to endure the time in peace and happiness.
But, I am not talking about the afterlife. No, whether or not you live in hell or paradise here on Earth, is entirely up to you. How is this possible?
Well for the most part, you get back what you put out. Most people have the impression that others are out to "get them". This really could not be farther from the truth. The average person is just going through life trying to survive, looking out for number one, so to speak. They aren't conscious enough about you and what goes on in your life to spend the time or energy to intentionally make things difficult for you. People generally do not do things to hurt you. They do what is best for them. And sometimes that means doing things that are not good for others. But they are not out to get you.
Most people are actually completely neutral towards those that they do not already know. Now think about this. If you are neutral towards a person who starts out being neutral towards you, you will get very little back but at least it won't be negative. Now if you are hostile towards someone who starts out neutral towards you, what happens? They become hostile as well. And if you are good and kind to others who have no previous impression of you, they tend to be good and kind in return don't they?
Imagine a person sitting in their easy chair in front of the fireplace waiting for the heat to come out. They never put any wood into the fireplace but they are demanding warmth. Do you think they will ever get it? Of course not. It just does not work that way. In order to get the warmth you first need to supply the fuel and start the fire.
We all want warmth and good will from others. But, in order to get it we need to be warm and good to others. We get to start the fire and make sure that it has plenty of fuel. Then in nearly every case, we will get warmth and good will reflected back to us. The best part of all is that this method is both reflective and additive.
As you build up your relationship with each person, you each tend to mirror the others outpouring of energy towards one another. With each reflection the strength of the bond and the energy between you continues to grow. You send back the positive energy that the other person sent towards you, plus a little bit more due to your current happiness with the way things are turning out. They receive your warmth and return it back, plus a little extra to reflect their own happiness with how things are.
This is the way that nearly all great friendships and romances start and is a wonderful recipe for eternal happiness and peace. We do decide every day of our lives, whether we realize it or not, whether we are going to live in hell or paradise, right here on Earth. There is no need to wait until you are dead to have the rewards of a good life. Why torture yourself and others all the years of your life by acting out of fear and hatred when you could instead live in paradise?

The real, authentic you
Everyone wants to be loved and accepted. The real authentic you has a deep seated, powerful desire for affection. So the world should be filled with love and acceptance right? Well, look around. Is it?
No, of course it isn't. Because although we all want love and acceptance we, on the average, do not give it. Instead, we hide behind our facade of toughness and invulnerability and throw hate grenades at other people, hopefully tearing them down before they get to tear us down. We generate lies about who we are and what we want so that others can't hurt us. While it seems like a good idea in theory, the armor is never thick enough, the walls are never high enough and we still get hurt. And even worse, this way can never ever lead to being loved and accepted.
To solve this problem we need to change gears. Now, for a real thought provoking question. How are babies and domestic canines alike?
They each are completely filled with the desire to be loved. There isn't a single ounce of falseness within them. They pour out who and what they are in every moment. Unconditional love oozes from every fiber of their being, from them into us. And we can't help but love them right back.
Sheer ecstasy at being around someone that they love is their sole motivation for every action they take. Their happiness is infectious. We catch it even if we think we don't want to. When a baby smiles at us we know they aren't trying to trick us into anything. They aren't luring us in so that they can hurt us. They are simply sharing joy.
It has been said that it is better to give than to receive. Well, in terms of love and acceptance, the saying should be if you wish to receive you must first give. See, we show the world, by our way of being, how we want the world to treat us.
When we put up a false front, lie about who we are and what we want, we tell the world that is how we want others to act around us. When we put on armor and pick up weapons we tell others we want them to attack us.
When we cloth ourselves in love and acceptance we show others that we want to be loved and accepted, but more importantly we show them that we are willing to give them what they truly want. And when you are willing to give others what they truly want they are much more willing to do the same for you.
Contrary to what you might think, when it comes to emotional energy, negative plus positive eventually leads to the destruction of negative, leaving behind the same amount or even more positive than you started with. Negative plus negative only leads to a larger amount of negative. And positive plus positive, of course, leads to more positive.
By being who you are, you free others to be who they are. When they realize that they can safely let their guard down around you, then there are two people who can be themselves. And gradually more and more people will be drawn to you as a result. You can't force the world to change. But you can encourage it.
So stop lying about who you are and what you want. Let out the inner child. Be authentic. Be real. Be you.

Today we went bowling
My son's third birthday (or 3th as the misprint on the cake said) was
this past Wednesday. Today we went out and celebrated his birthday by
taking him bowling for the first time.
He has a little plastic bowling ball and pin set at home. So he was already familiar with the basic mechanics. And I think he has seen a bowling alley before on Handy Manny or one of the other kid shows he watches. I figured it would be a cute thing that he would get a kick out of. Though I have to admit, I was a little worried that he might not be big enough to roll the ball hard enough to actually knock over any pins when the ball finally finished its long slow crawl down to the end of the lane.
Have you ever had a moment that was just so awesome and so super-charged with positive emotion that you wanted to crystallize it, to somehow freeze that moment in time, so that you could carry it around with you all the time? Well I got nearly an hour of that today.
It is generally accepted by those that know me well that I am an accomplished wordsmith. But in this case, I must admit, I find myself without a way to adequately express what I observed happening with him. I was totally unprepared for the level of enthusiasm that he showed for pretty much the whole hour that we were bowling. He didn't really understand a lot of the finer points like whose turn was when or which ball he was supposed to use. And he really didn't care.
By the metrics used by any serious bowler he did terrible. We all did. But every time he went up and took his turn to roll the ball down the lane, it was like every good thing in the world imaginable was happening all at once. If he knocked down even one pin he was jumping up and down, clapping, shouting hooray and giving high fives. He was even celebrating when he missed completely.
The expressions on his face and the waves of positive energy literally pouring off of him were simply mind blowing. I truly wish I could have bottled the experience to savor and sample at various times in the future. Alas, the memory will have to do.
Taking him bowling was completely a flippant decision on my part. I am tremendously glad that we ended up doing it and was a bit sad when it was time to go. We will definitely be bowling more in the future.
Just think. Bowling is a simple maybe even boring thing to most people. But, through the eyes of my son and in fact anyone for anyone who has never done it before and is truly open to new experiences, it is a wild new adventure where anything can happen.
Yes, I am aware that eventually the "new" will wear off, but I can't wait to find something else new that he flips out over in a similar way. I love being a dad.

A few more words on gratitude pt2
Now imagine that every person on the planet is born with a certain
internal reserve of energy and at that person's birth a certain amount
of the energy in the universe is set aside to handle working with that
person to assist them in making all their hopes and dreams come true.
Assume that the amount of energy the universe puts aside for each person
is an order of magnitude higher than the amount that any person can
ever achieve, so that the universe can always adequately reflect the
amount that the person gives off no matter how their emotions and
thoughts fluctuate. What a person gives out the universe will give back.
Like breeds like.
With this in mind, imagine that a person is working towards a goal that requires 100 units of this energy to achieve, getting homeowner's insurance for example. Positive energy is a creative force and negative energy is a destructive force. Achieving a goal is about making an improvement or about building something, gaining or increasing. So we will need 100 units of positive energy to achieve this goal. Each point of negative energy in what we say do or think will decrease the amount of positive energy. They cancel each other out.
So the person working towards this goal is excited and happy about their vision and puts out their maximum effort that they can at one point in time and let's say that's five units of positive energy. You as the universe see this person with that vision, are impressed with their excitement and positivity and you reflect their energy with five units of positive energy.
Now they are ten percent of the way there. The next day occurs and they are working more towards their goal and everything looks great. They provide five more units of positivity and so do you. Then they are twenty percent of the way there.
Day three comes around and while they are working towards their goal an obstacle comes up. The insurance agent tells them that there is going to be a delay because inspections need to be done. The best thing for the person to do would be to say okay cool how do we do that. Let's get it done. Then today could be another day of ten percent achievement. Instead the person gets frustrated with the delay and becomes negative. Here is the important part of this lesson.
You as the universe are saying we're about a fifth of the way to you having this goal are you sure this is what you want? And the person's reply is totally negative. Five units of negative energy are generated by the person and you as the universe decide that the person does not want what they have said they do. You respond by applying five more units of negative energy. Now they are back to the 10% of the way towards their goal that they were on day one. And the way this will show up is by more obstacles and challenges occurring as the universe again asks what they really want.
As you can see, in order for any real forward progress to happen, the person is going to need to focus all of their thoughts, words and deeds positively towards accomplishing their goals.
If a person is putting their best effort forward, while living with faith that they will receive that for which they are working towards and are grateful for those things which they have yet to receive there can be no doubt about the results. The universe is constantly being updated with the truth that they want exactly what they have asked for and they are sure to receive it.
Keep in mind also that things will sometimes not happen on the timetable that you would like due to the fact that you as a person do not know the amount of energy required to bring you what it is that you desire. But, often when things do not happen when you want them to, when they finally do, something about them will be even better than that for which you had originally planned.
Be persistent in maintaining an attitude of gratitude, while putting your best foot forward and faithfully believing you will get what you want, and all your dreams will come true

Balance is not always good
It is my belief that within each person there is an extremely large
yet finite amount of energy. The quantity and quality of that energy is
different for each person. This energy has two distinct forms. All of
the energy within a person is in one or the other of these forms. For
our purposes, in this discussion the terms positive and negative will be
used. This energy pairing can go by other names such as, love/not love,
light/dark, creative/destructive, and even yin/yang.
The law of conservation of energy states that energy can not be created nor can it be destroyed. It can only be converted from one form into another. This is absolutely true of this energy that is within each of us. When we are born, we start out filled from head to toe with love. We are positive energy through and through. As adults this is seldom true anymore. Why?
Believe it or not, the primary reason is due to the fact that people in general do not attempt to create win-win situations with each other. They literally do not care that the other person is unhappy and do not see how it affects them. They simply look for solutions to problems that will benefit them without care for how it affects other people. They reason that it works for them so it must be a good solution. There is more to the situation than that but most people either are not aware of the rest or consciously ignore it.
Let's look at what actually happens. We have a problem. Let's say that before this issue comes up you and I each are completely full of positive energy. We have never had a single negative experience. Then some issue happens. For a time some of both of our stores of positive energy are converted into negative energy due to our displeasure about this issue. Now suppose, I come up with and cause to be implemented a solution that works for me but not for you. I am happy and my negative energy is converted back to positive. I am once again filled with positive energy. AND I either do not notice or do not care that the experience is bad for you.
So after this issue I am still full of positive energy and you are not. You have frustration and resentment over how the issue was handled especially since for you the issue itself may still be ongoing. Now when you deal with issues with other people, you may not be willing to work with them to solve problems due to your bad experience with me. You definitely are not going to want to work with me to solve problems in the future and if forced to, you are going to look for solutions that work for you with no thought for how well they will work for me. And that will lead to some of my positive energy being converted to negative when the solution is not beneficial to me.
Then we will each go from issue to issue with other people tainting each others' positive energy with negative due to the "required" selfishness that we have each pretty much learned from each other. It goes on and on getting worse with each recursion until eventually there is nearly no positive energy at all and we have the general state of things today with all the hatred, violence and mistrust that we have all created for ourselves.
The negative energy cannot be destroyed. There is no way to "get rid" of it and you can not change the past. What you can do is take new actions, make new choices and new decisions. Seek out win-win solutions in EVERY circumstance regardless of how small it seems to you because you never have any idea how much that thing means to the other person. Each time the other person gets a win when dealing with you, they will be more likely to want to work with you to create a circumstance where everybody wins next time.
When you create a win for everybody involved some of your stores of negative energy are converted back to positive. Do this enough and your energy will approach the positive level it was at while you were a child. Everyday life will become much like paradise. And has it not been said that to enter the gates of heaven one must be as the child?
Should I start my own religion? pt1
We established sometime ago in a previous post that I am in fact
insane. If further proof of that concept bothers you, read no further.
All day everyday data is received into our brains and although we may have a hard time recalling things at certain times, none of it ever really leaves. It just sits around waiting to be useful.
Sometimes, over long periods of time, connections between seemingly unrelated pieces begin to form into an overall picture that you would never have ever thought of putting together.
Here are some of those things.
I believe, that in my infancy, I met the being that the Christians call God. I gave up a chance to remain where he was in order to be in service to and of use to people here on Earth, not slavishly but in a loving, giving and uplifting way. I believe that there are many many benevolent spiritual beings that are greater than man and that very few if any crave worship. Having met a god, I cannot truly be an atheist and agnostic while close does not perfectly describe me either. My personal preference has always been to say that I am not religious, though I am a deeply spiritual person. A great deal of my adult life has been spent in studying many different religions as well as a search for personal enlightenment, empowerment and overall enrichment of life for myself and others.
A lot of in internal work and forging has occurred to bring me to the point where I am today. And while the path never ends, I believe that I am a perfectly designed tool for improving the world and the lives of those who live upon it. Yes, I said it. I'm a tool. And I am proud of it. But where is the proper venue for this tool to be put to best use?
It would seem, at first, that the best way to change the world in a positive manner would be through politics since nearly all government seems corrupt in one way or another. But there is so much red tape involved in getting into politics. A great deal of it comes down to a popularity contest one which often devolves into mud slinging. And even once you finally get your foot in the door, it seems that it is impossible to get anything done without shady back room dealings. That is not for me. Besides politics is more about making laws that govern life, not about living it in a positive way. I have tried to see myself as a politician and I just can not do it.
What about religion? It would seem to be a lot more my speed. Though most current organized religion is often more about guilt and manipulation than good living. So maybe I could start a new religion, one with a different overall framework. When I was younger, I was a Jehovah's Witness for several years, at a time when I had no friends. As a result, I would take my Bible to school and read it in my free time. Some of the kids used to make fun of me, calling me Reverend Jim. I laughed it off but never really thought about it at the time. And at some other point in my life there was jokingly a Church of Jim that included the philosophies of myself and another Jim with whom I was close friends. Now, though, I can very easily see myself as both priest and teacher of the good word. But what word would that be?

You ARE God pt4
I have suggested that you become a god. But what I really mean is for
you to step up and accept that you are already and have always been a
god. You are already THE Author of your life. You, through a combination
of action and inaction cause every event in your life to happen to you.
You decide whether you live or not day in or day out. You decide
whether or not you pay your bills with the money you have. You decide
what level of negativity you are willing to put up with from the people
around you both in your work and your home life. You decide whether or
not to be in an abusive relationship. You decide whether or not you are a
powerhouse of love and positivity or a force of hate and destruction.
Step up and be proud of the power that you have to create and control your destiny. Admit to yourself that you are responsible for everything that has ever or will ever happen to you. Take some time and accept that all the bad as well as the good is your doing. It is much harder to accept that you could have avoided or changed the bad, that you could have done something to make it different. But don't beat yourself up about it.That is extremely unhealthy and serves no useful purpose. Admit that you could have done something and fully commit and resolve to make better choices in the future.
Then once you have done this commit to awakening others around you to the same basic facts. We are, all of us, each, individually gods. We each hold supreme power over our own lives and deaths. And by banding together one by one we can change our households at the very least. Then over time household by household we can change our cities and states. And eventually we can even change the whole world. That is my vision, my goal. I plan to change the world. I do not believe that it will be complete within my lifetime but I still see it as a worthy goal. Future generations will have a better world to live in because of my efforts and that thought alone makes me smile every time I think about it.
I do live in a household where we strive to be masters of our own destinies, where we are not slaves to the wants and desires of others, where we make choices based on positive goals and not based out of fear. It is with an open mind and a loving heart that we forge ahead and meet life's challenges head on. And I have to tell you, other people can feel it, they can sense the energy that we have. They don't know what it is but they like it and want to be around us but often do not really understand why.
It is an ancient pagan belief that everything in the universe is part of one being. All forms of matter are just parts of that being. Thus everything in the universe is god. In holding with that theory, I say this, in closing. We are all gods each with the power to change the world around us. Since we have the power to change things but haven't yet, we are directly responsible for the state that the world is in. That thought bothers me greatly, even though I believe it to be absolutely true. So I ask that you become a source of love and light, own up to your divinity and join me, and assist me in changing the world into a place that we will be proud of it becoming.
