When you are a kid, all through grade school and throughout high
school people tell you what to expect throughout your life. Parents,
teachers, even other kids tell you how it's gonna be. They tell you what
you can and can not do with your life.
Life is hard. The economy
is bad. Corporations don't want people, they want wage slaves. You can't
trust the other gender. It has never been harder to find work than it
is right now.
At the rate things are going you will never be able to
buy a house. Well intentioned people say things like this all the
time. Why?
Other people want you to be prepared for the challenges
that life has to offer. They mean well, but what is really happening
when they do this? What they are actually doing, without realizing it,
is preconditioning you to have the kinds of experiences that they are
telling you about. They are ensuring that you live a life of
mediocrity. There are certain facets of life that are common no matter
where you look. It is not fair however to take a bright, fresh, young
mind and hamper it with all of these beliefs, to stick those things to
you whether you want them or not.
If you trust and believe the
people that are telling you these things about your life, then the
circumstances of your life will be molded by these things. You will
never trust the other gender. You will know that all corporations are
evil, have a hard time finding a job, make barely enough money to get by
and struggle to ever own a home.
What gives other people the
right to mess up kids that way? What gives them the right to tell you
what YOUR life is going to be like? The simple answer is nothing. They
are telling you that life is a certain way. What they mean is that their
lives are that way. All these well meaning people are just telling you
about the limitations that they have allowed their belief system to
impose on their lives.
Read that again. the limitations that they
have allowed their belief system to impose on their lives.
Our beliefs
either limit or unlimit us. How does this happen? Mostly, it occurs
through subconscious agreement of limiting statements. We trust and
believe the sincerity of the people that are speaking to us and we do
not really think about what they are saying. A fact could be as simple
as there are more homeless people out there currently than at any other
point in US history. The story that people make up about that fact is
that it is difficult to get and maintain a home. The truth of the matter
is easy or difficult is a value judgement that each person decides for
themselves. But what they tell you is that you will have a hard time
getting a home. And you believe them. So when the time comes you
struggle to get a home. If there was no preconceived expectation, if
there was no reason to believe that it would be difficult, then it might
not turn out to be true for you. With no expectation there is unlimited
possibility. It could be easy, somewhat challenging or very difficult.
But once your mind latches on to the negative words of others that you
trust, the only possibility becomes the harder path.
How can this
be avoided? I mean people are always going to be giving their two cents.
You can not feasibly just tell them all to shut up and stop ruining
your life. What you can do though is to politely acknowledge their
viewpoint but decide that their belief is not going to impose the same
results on you. It is your life and you are the author, not them. Take
what they are saying with a grain of salt. Yes, the housing market may
be in turmoil but your credit score is say 750 or you have a great job
or maybe you have or intend to devise a plan to prevent this from being
an issue.
Bottom line, appreciate the sentiment. Don't buy into the bullshit. I say again, unlimit yourself

Resonance
Several times before, I have stated that you are responsible for
everything that goes on in your life. You are the author, the director,
the one responsible for the script. And in no way is that more true than
through the concept of resonance.
What is resonance? Musically, it would be the quality in a sound of being deep, full, and reverberating. There is a tool, called a tuning fork, that is used to help tune musical instruments, due to the fact that when the fork is struck it resonates at a specific pitch and frequency. The note, being played by the fork, allows the musician to know when the instrument or part of the instrument that he is tuning is correctly tuned. There are all sorts of different tuning forks, but they are generally tuned to the notes of the musical scale. There are individual tuning forks that are tuned to A notes and B notes and C notes and so on. Let's say you have four tunings forks, two of them tuned to A, one to B and one to C. If you strike one of the two that is tuned to the pitch of A it will begin to vibrate. It will produce a sound. The tuning forks that are tuned to B and C will not make any sound at all. But since the other tuning fork is also tuned to the pitch of A it will also begin to vibrate and to a lesser degree it will also make sound. The two tuning forks have been tuned to the same note or "in harmony" . When one is struck and both produce sound this is called harmonic resonance. And it is what most people mean when they are describing the principle of resonance.
This idea doesn't just work in music though. It is the single most important concept for understanding why people are where they are in their lives. Over and over it has been said that what you think about you become. It has been said many different ways. What you focus on you produce. What you think you make real. It all means the same thing. See, your thought patterns produce vibrations that travel out into the surrounding universe and things that are in harmonic resonance with what you think are drawn to you. Things that are in harmony with your thoughts come to you as a result of those thoughts.
What does this mean? It means that if you are constantly focused on how much your job sucks, how badly you hate where you live and how you never have enough free time, the negative energy that you send out thinking about those things draws more negative energy from the universe and ensures that you get more of those things.
Does this mean you should just throw up your hands and give up? Absolutely not. But, complaining about your life or focusing on all the things that don't work is not the answer. Being unsatisfied about your conditions is fine. If you want to make it better though you get to focus on the positive things that you are working to achieve. Instead of trying to lose weight, focus on how your body will look when you reach your goal. Stop thinking about all the things that you do not want in the job that you already have. Focus on the qualities that your new job will have.
It may sound stupid or you may not see the difference in the two ways of being. But trust me, thinking about getting away from where you are is a losing mentality. And thinking about where you are going to be as the starting point for getting there is the winning way.
Through the principle of resonance, the reason why should be obvious. Your positive thinking about your goals will create harmonic resonance with the universe and then good things will start happening. It has been scientifically proven that when you think negative and limiting things your experiences are negative, which causes you to feel more negative, which in turn creates more negative and limiting thinking. It is a vicious cycle. On the other hand if you think positive and unlimiting beliefs, your experiences are positive which causes you to feel more positive, which in turn creates more positive and unlimiting thinking. What you put in you get out. Through your thoughts and actions you can force the universe to bring you whatever it is that you desire.
Unlimit yourself.
